Actually, it's been out since Tuesday but I just didn't feel like typing up a rant in the journal.

Anyway, I'm done with Junior year. It's official... I'm a Senior now. Scary!

I've heard from a lot of people that Junior year is supposed to be the hardest of your high school career. People also say that the facts on Snapple caps are 100% reliable.

Senior year looks like it's going to be triple the work until May when all the AP tests are. Then it will hopefully let up and I can relax.
...Now I feel like I just jinxed it.

What my summer before Senior year is going to entail:
-no job, it seems (Borders won't hire unless you're 18 and I'm not ... and Petsmart hasn't called me yet. WTF?!?! And I don't think my old job is looking to hire... so much for that...)
-visiting a few colleges
-filling out college apps
-reading 4 books for school and taking notes on 3
-reading 16 speeches and writing 2 paragraphs for each of them
-doing a rather large packet for my AP Chemistry class (which I wasn't supposed to take but ended up in anyway...not happy...)
-polishing up a manuscript and making it worth publication
-drafting letters of inquiry to send off to literary agents
-trying not to rip my hair out
-hopefully squeezing in another 2 pics for Black and White contest as well as 3 for Elemental contest... but will be doing those in traditional mediums, I think


Before starting all that, I decided to take this week off and just relax. Starting Monday, I jump in to school work and do as much as I possibly can as fast as I can and hope I get it done before July ends.
So, uh, if there's any dormancy on my end, you know why. There probably won't be since I'm too addicted to DA to stay away for more than a day, but.... yeah.

It's smack in the middle of Finals. I always love the weekend right in the middle of Finals or Midterms, because I never get work other than to study, and there's no point in doing that until Sunday. So, that means I pretty much got yesterday off. Came home around 10:00 AM since I only had one final early in the morning. Had the rest of the day to myself. Er, at least, I did until my sister's friends came over and started throwing water balloons at each other. Noisy!!!

Well, yesterday was pretty nice, screaming kids aside. I actually got to do something I haven't done in a long time: art for fun. I sketched a picture for ~lunascythedragon's Black and White contest. I like the picture a lot and started going over it in Photoshop yesterday. I'm happy with it so far, even if I've only done a flat, preliminary coloring. I did get the lineart done, though, and I think that the background on this one might actually turn out okay.
It's kinda funny because this picture is the last idea I got, but I like it the best. I'm still gonna try to get another two in this summer in addition to some elemental arkins for =kankakanka's contest, and I'll probably (finally) at least sketch something for the BA challenge. Yay!

Now I have today to goof off before hitting the history books tomorrow and reviewing stuff. And today, I'm not going to think about the unnecessary evil sitting on my bedroom floor right now: a rather large pile of summer homework.

So, it's just about that time of year. There's another full week of school left, plus three days that run over into the dreaded Finals days, making for 8 more days of school and 4 days set aside for Finals. It's about that time of year when everyone I come in contact with is mentally dead. "That's it, I'm done." is one of the most commonly used phrases in the hallway, second only to "Dude, I'm starving! Got any food?" Since this is junior year, we have a special name for this period of just giving up: The Junior Slump. It's apparently the onset of Senioritis, which is apparently a horrible disease that saps away your willpower and causes you slack off for an entire school year. I want to know why teachers continue to pile on the homework when a good majority of the grade level is obviously in no state of mind to be working. Oh, that's right. Most teachers have no souls.

My turn now, though: "That's it, I'm done."
...Or I would be, if I could actually bring myself to just give up and not care...... Darn my diligent..ness...stuff...yeeeah.............

Well, anyway, I'm thinking about my summer right now. What to do with 2 months off. (Usually I say 3, but this year, it quite seriously is only 2 months, give or take a couple of days.) What I'll be doing:

1) Summer work for school, including summer reading and art projects. Why, why must work exist? >.<
2) College essays and visiting a few schools.
3) Possibly working at Borders. (I wouldn't mind this, especially after last year's summer job. Couldn't bear standing on a hard concrete floor for hours on end, and quite honestly, my employer stocked some fruits and veggies that Chef Emeril wouldn't have been able to identify.)
4) Hopefully starting that BA challenge.
5) Entering the element contest held by kankakanka and pearleden. I have ideas already.
6) Entering the black/white contest held by lunascythedragon. I have more ideas and am excited to start...
7) Setting aside some time to edit a personal project.

Okay, that's about it for summer plans, I think. (I hope...)
Before summer comes, though, I get to finish up projects this weekend and get my butt in motion on an art project that I think is due on Friday... I should probably stop typing now...
